AGM and Foster Carer Long Service Awards 15th April 2013.

After a very warm welcome to everyone and a presentation by Judith Gibby, Head of Service for TLC, long service certificates and payments of £1,000 & £500 for 10 and 5 years respectively were presented to Carers by Caroline Ellis, Operations Director and Kevin Bailey Project Manager of Caretech to acknowledge carers support and commitment to TLC.

Certificates for 10 years’ service were presented to 7 fostering households and Certificates for 5 years’ service were presented to 16 households.

Caroline Ellis expressed heartfelt thanks and appreciation from Caretech for the highly specialist work and loyalty of TLC Carers and said that she and the management of Caretech highly valued TLC as a service.

Foster carers agreed that long service and loyalty to TLC was much to do with the supportive environment provided by both staff and other carers at TLC.

Eryl John said that both she and her husband Ray who have been carers with TLC since 2012 felt that “although they had not been at TLC as long as some carers that the support of both staff and other carers made them feel as though they were part of a family and this was important to them.”

Michelle Morgan who received a 5 year award said she felt it was “important for everyone to remember that TLC is a Specialist Agency.  Carers need to have a go, roll up their sleeves and try to meet the challenges posed by children and young people with hugely complex needs and challenging behaviour. We all have to start somewhere, and with good support it can make such a difference to children & young people needing placements. ”
